Wood-tendo

This was a “project” I did for a friend who had a broken NES following an unfortunate beer-spilling accident at a party. The motherboard was encrusted with some sort of white goo that I was able to clean up, but I also discovered that the C-shaped cartridge connector was thoroughly worn out as well. The motherboard has a card-edge connector identical to a normal cartridge on it, and a plastic C-shaped widget that is a bit longer on one leg connects the two. I didn’t want to buy a new connector for it, so I just flipped the connector around so that the side without the worn-out springs was on top. The motherboard is a bit thicker than the card-edge of a normal cartridge, so it makes a tight enough fit that everything still worked properly. Unfortunately, because the connector was a bit shorter on top now than it had been, the cartridge assembly was no longer able to accept the cartridges mechanically. Solution? Just remove the top (it’s mostly hollow) and replace it with a crappy piece of faux-wood MDF I had lying around =) Behold, the Woodtendo!
